More About Us ->Understanding The Game
Polo At A Glance
Team - Two teams of 4 players compete against each other.
Objective - To score goals by hitting the ball through the opponent's goal posts.
Time - A match is divided into periods called chukkers, with short breaks in between.
Players - Players use a long-handled mallet to strike the ball while riding horseback.
Speed - Horses can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h, making polo one of the fastest team sports.
Horses - Players switch horses during the match to ensure the horses remain fresh and perform at their best.
What Makes Polo Exciting
The sport is highly strategic - players constantly communicate, change positions, and rotate horses to outwit opponents.
It's the fastest ball sport on earth - a polo ball can travel at speeds of over 120 km/h (75 mph) after being struck.
Horses can reach speeds of 60 km/h while riders are leaning out of the saddle, swinging mallets at full gallop.
The "ride-off" - when two players push their horses against each other to gain control of the ball - is one of the most thrilling moments in sport.
